Another resident who walks daily with two young children described safety concerns and asked the council to consider measures that work at all hours. Longtime resident Terry McCarthy (6220 Rosan Avenue) said traffic increased as nearby commercial development changed driving patterns and recalled past ideas such as closing part of the street to trucks.
Staff told residents that the police department has collected preliminary data — traffic and speed counts and historic accident records — and that an officer will share initial findings with residents after the appearance section. Staff said the item will return on a future agenda for fuller discussion and analysis of options, including direction-specific counts.
The presentation placed the request on record and established next steps: staff will gather and share traffic-count data with residents and schedule the matter for formal council consideration.
