The board recognized the Bowling Green High School girls swim team for competitive and academic success this season and honored volunteer assistant coach Gary Lane.
A presenter told the meeting the girls finished second in their district and earned an automatic state qualifying berth; Elena finished 21st in the 53 and Mia was runner‑up in two individual events, earning All‑Ohio honors and an automatic qualification for All‑American consideration. The presenter also said that, as members of the National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association, the team’s 12 girls posted a combined grade‑point average of 3.754, qualifying them for gold level recognition.
The board also acknowledged volunteer assistant coach Gary Lane. The presenter said Lane ‘‘completed his 44th year as a coach with Bowling Green High School’’ and was recognized at the state championship as a recipient of the Carl Worthmind award, described in the presentation as the highest coaching award in Ohio high school swimming.
Board members invited the athletes to remain for photos; the board then moved on to other agenda items.
