North Harrison board appoints Chris Kane as middle school principal

The North Harrison Community School Corporation board voted 5-0 May 6 to appoint Chris Kane as principal of North Harrison Middle School, effective July 1, 2026.
Board President Josh Bowen moved to approve the appointment; the motion was seconded and passed unanimously. Bowen announced the appointment on the board agenda: "Chris Kane, North Harrison Middle School principal, effective 07/01/2026." The board recorded the motion and vote during the special meeting.
Mr. LaGrange introduced Mr. Kane to the board and attendees, noting Kane’s background as assistant principal and athletic director at Floyd Central and a previous principalship at Scribner. Introduced by board members, Kane thanked the board, his family and the community and spoke about his priorities.
"Doing the athletic director role is awesome. I love sports... I miss the student interaction, and that's something I pride myself on," Kane said. He told the board he looks forward to ‘‘getting to be in the halls, in the cafeteria with the kids, in the classrooms with the kids, working with the teachers, and just getting it home.’’
The board did not discuss additional personnel terms or a contract in public at the meeting. The appointment takes effect July 1, 2026, per the board’s agenda announcement.
