Jatie, a senior at Renaissance High and student trustee for the Santa Paula Unified School District, told the board she gathers reports from selected schools and presents them at board meetings held every other Wednesday. "My duty as a student trustee is to gather reports from certain schools and every other Wednesday, which are our board meetings, I report everything that has happened throughout the past week or so," she said.
She said she chooses specific schools to collect updates and shares events and issues from the past week or two at each meeting. "My end goal is to allow students a space to come to me with any issues, any changes they want to see, and it's my job as a student trustee to bring that up to the higher-ups and to talk and hopefully let students see that change within the school," Jatie said.
The remarks were an introduction to her role and responsibilities; no formal motions or board decisions followed.
