The Marysville Joint Unified School District Board of Trustees approved a set of policy revisions and an updated job description at its Oct. 14 meeting.
District staff members Gabe Simon and Bob Becker presented a second reading of proposed updates to board policies in sections 1000 (community relations), 5000 (students) and 6000 (instruction), which they said were adjusted to reflect California School Boards Association (CSBA) recommendations and current Education Code requirements. After the presentation, board member Frank Crawford moved to approve the policies; Oliver Taylor seconded and the board approved the motion.
Separately, the board reviewed an updated job description for the Pupil Services Secretary position. Gabe Simon said the revision reorganizes existing duties to allow the single position to serve both wellness-related pupil services and special education support. He noted there is a vacancy and that the change requires no budget increase. Gary Criddle moved to approve the updated job description, Frank Crawford seconded, and the board approved the motion (reported as 7-0 in the meeting record).
Board members did not request additional changes at the meeting and no public controversy or extended questioning about the policy text or the job description was recorded.
The adopted policy revisions and the updated job description will be reflected in the district's personnel and policy documents going forward.
