The superintendent framed the lawsuit as a response to provisions of HB2 that the district views as vague and likely to limit inclusive instructional practice. "We had unanimously voted to support legal action ... to really ... challenge the state's HB2 anti-DEI bill," he said. The superintendent added officials were "optimistic" and said the district would update the community when further court action occurs.
Board members did not take an additional vote during the meeting; the superintendent described the earlier board action authorizing legal support and explained the rationale to the assembled trustees and staff.
