Pennsauken honors crossing guard Diana Fana Pensogen as inaugural 'Super Senior' and previews spring events

The proclamation—read by the mayor—described Pensogen's previous administrative career and noted her longtime service greeting children at the Union and Park Avenue crossing. After the proclamation, Diana Fana Pensogen accepted the recognition and told the committee she was honored and that she loves ‘‘all the children that I cross,’’ thanking residents for their support and wishing everyone a Happy Easter.
Committee members used the time for community announcements. Mayor Olivo highlighted April observances including autism awareness month and child-abuse prevention month and turned the floor to Committeewoman Raf to preview a township autism awareness event scheduled for Friday, April 24 at Eden Gardens on Route 73 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.; organizations that want to participate were asked to contact Juan Vasquez at extension 1420. Deputy Mayor Martinez spoke about spring sports registrations, upgrades at Tippen Pond and a planned trout stocking that will need volunteer counters.
Committeewoman Roberts reviewed library programming and community services: an annual art show April 19–26 (submission dates April 16–17), a senior spring series on Fridays through June, sensory story time (April 27, May 18, June 22), ongoing AARP tax-aid through April 15, a shredding event on April 25 from 8 a.m. to noon at the township complex, and a Juneteenth vendor opportunity on June 13. She encouraged residents to contact the township for vendor registration.
Deputy Mayor Martinez also noted a township active-shooter training exercise scheduled the following day between roughly 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. and asked residents not to be alarmed if they see law enforcement activity at the municipal building.
The committee announced its next meeting for April 16. No members of the public spoke during the public-comment period at this meeting.
