Student council says Winterfest raised over $800; students to present event at state conference

The Bayonne student representative reported to the board that Winterfest, held Dec. 2, was a successful student-run event that raised more than $800 from vendor table sales and tickets.
"At Winterfest, we made over $800 in sales from tables and tickets," the student representative said, describing a wide range of student vendors including the knitting and crocheting club, French club and Latin club. The representative added that fundraising included a "tape the principal" activity in which participants paid to tape Principal Mr. Macowski to the wall.
Student council also reported ongoing holiday fundraising: candy-cane "holiday grams" sold for $1 each and will be delivered to students in homerooms on Dec. 19, and the council is participating in the district's giving tree to buy gifts for children in hospital.
Student leaders plan to attend the New Jersey Association of Student Councils conference on Jan. 7 at the College of New Jersey. "Our president and vice president Evelyn Lyanna will be presenting our Winterfest event to other student councils from around New Jersey," the student representative said.
The board acknowledged the student report with applause and moved on to other business before adjourning the meeting with holiday greetings.
