Superintendent Miss Porelli announced at the board meeting that she intends to retire effective July 1, 2026, closing a 35-year career that included six years as Jackson Township superintendent.
"Serving this community has been one of the greatest privileges of my professional life," Porelli said, asking the board to begin a search to allow for an orderly transition.
The board publicly thanked Porelli for her service and described plans for a comprehensive, transparent and inclusive search. Board members said a community survey will be released to gather priorities that will shape a superintendent profile; the profile will be shared at the February 18, 2026 meeting and the board anticipates appointing a new superintendent in late spring for a July 1 start.
Board members emphasized stability and stakeholder input: they asked families, staff and residents to complete the upcoming survey to help identify desired qualifications and priorities. The board also said it will launch a dedicated web page with updates, timelines and survey information.
The announcement follows a period of district-level challenges the superintendent referenced, including pandemic-era disruptions and significant state aid cuts. Board members praised Porelli’s leadership through those pressures and her advocacy at the county and state levels.
Next steps: the board will release the community survey and post the superintendent-search timeline online; the search committee will use survey responses to develop the profile presented in February.
