Dr. Lynn said the district's CTE (Career Technical Education) Round 10 allocation is $793,243, funds intended to support high-school CTE programs including field trips, materials, transportation, memberships and consultant fees. Trustee Kenyon asked for a follow-up report detailing per-campus allocations and strategies to stretch the funds across multiple high schools.
Trustees also discussed an adult-education purchase order that totals approximately $4.6 million for a California firefighter apprenticeship. District staff explained the district serves as the Local Education Agency (LEA) for the state-directed apprenticeship program and functions as a pass-through for RSI state funds while retaining allowable administrative costs; trustees asked staff to provide the exact administrative fee amount in a follow-up.
Separately, the board approved acceptance of a Specialized Secondary Programs (state cohort 11) grant of $100,000 to support an aviation pathway program at Los Altos High School for July 1, 2025'June 30, 2026. Trustees confirmed the program has operated for multiple years and that "cohort 11" is the state's grant label.
The board also approved providing district transportation to the 56th Assembly District College and Career Fair at Rio Hondo Community College on October 11, 2025, with buses running from the district's four high schools and one middle school.
Across these items trustees repeatedly asked for clearer tracking and reporting so the board and public can see how grants and pass-through funds translate into district services, tools, and student opportunities.
