Board leadership described Coughlin’s background: she had served as a director in the special-education department since July, holds multiple master’s degrees in special education and brings more than 28 years of experience including 13 years as a teacher and 15 years as a program specialist. The board said she served eight years as a program specialist in the district and previously held similar roles in neighboring districts.
Her effective start date in the new role is Monday, Oct. 20.
Why it matters: The executive-director role directs special-education programming across the district and affects compliance, individualized education plan (IEP) delivery and supports for students with disabilities. The board said it looks forward to Coughlin’s leadership.
