Board extends superintendent agreement, confirms evaluation and appoints new special-education director

The Paramount Unified School District Board of Education announced several personnel actions at its July 17 meeting.
In closed session, the board voted unanimously (4-0) to approve the 2024–25 evaluation for Superintendent Dr. Joshua Lidle (motion by Vice President/Clerk Delef3; second by Board member Martinez). The board then publicly summarized the report in accordance with Government Code §54953.3 and voted to amend Dr. Lidle's employment agreement to extend the term through June 30, 2029; the motion passed 4-0.
The board also voted (4-0) in closed session to appoint Myra Helgura as director of special education on Schedule A Step Five, effective Aug. 1, 2025 (motion by Martinez, second by Cruz), and announced that appointment in open session.
Board president and members did not provide additional personnel detail beyond the statutory summary required for the superintendent contract; the formal employment amendment and the appointment will be reflected in personnel records and administrative files. No dissenting votes were recorded on these personnel actions.
What to watch: Implementation dates (Helgura effective Aug. 1) and contract details for the superintendent are available via district personnel office; the board will receive follow-up implementation and onboarding plans for the new director of special education.
