The Marysville Joint Unified School District board used part of its Oct. 28 meeting to recognize FFA teams, C‑STEM presenters and several individual awardees, and to note a large community donation that supported fall activities across the district.
Bob Eckhardt called students and advisors to the front to acknowledge Lyndhurst High and Marysville High FFA participants, naming individual students including Taylor Bisbee, Chase Bisbee and Jacob Unger, and citing regional awards for advisors and teachers. "Let's give them a round of applause," Eckhardt said as he introduced the students. Marysville FFA members and advisors were honored for section and region recognitions.
Angela Stiegel, president of the Marysville Unified Teachers Association, thanked FFA advisors and teachers and noted the extra hours and commitment required to run programs. "Phenomenal, phenomenal group of people," she said, congratulating awardees and presenters.
Superintendent Reeves described a community donation from Mike Wallace of Wallace Farms (Colusa): a semi‑truckload of carving pumpkins that district staff and community volunteers distributed to elementary schools and ag programs. Reeves said the donation was routed through ag teachers and facilities staff, with forklifts and community trailers used to move pallets; he estimated the donation value at roughly $10,000 and the count between about 2,000 and 3,000 pumpkins. "We immediately said yes," Reeves said of the district’s decision to accept the donation and partner with farm donors for future support.
Reeves also announced a Marysville High ribbon‑cutting ceremony scheduled for Thursday at 4:30 p.m., noted that a football game was moved to coincide with the event, and highlighted upcoming drama performances Nov. 19–21. The superintendent praised staff, coaches and volunteers for organizing student recognition efforts and community events.
The district credited Ed Services and site principals with coordinating the pumpkin distribution and said it hopes to continue the partnership with Wallace Farms for future in‑kind donations.
