Grasslands Elementary honored as a 2025 California Distinguished School

The Los Banos Unified School District recognized Grasslands Elementary on Tuesday after the California Department of Education included the school on its 2025 list of Distinguished Schools.
Dr. Marshall said Grasslands is the second school in the district’s history to receive the honor, noting the previous recognition occurred in 1995. He praised staff and students for their work in producing the results that led to state recognition.
Principal Ardunis accepted the board’s commendation and thanked staff, parents and students. “This recognition reflects the hard work and collaboration and the unwavering commitment of our exceptional staff,” she said, inviting parents and students forward for a photo and brief remarks as part of a short ceremony.
The board noted that the school will receive the formal state emblem and that a broader ceremony is expected at the state event in Anaheim. Trustees took no additional action related to the recognition; the item was presented as an acknowledgment of school achievement.
