District reports construction progress on TK early‑ed center, Volta modernization and $5M grant for early education center

Volta modernization: staff said hazardous‑materials abatement and air‑clearance testing are complete and demolition has started (floors removed, demo to framing). The district is moving the Volta server room to a new administration office area and coordinating that work to avoid disruption.
Funding and oversight: Superintendent Dr. Marshall reported the district received a check for ‘‘a little bit over $5 million’’ to offset the cost of the early‑education center; facilities staff also reminded the board that the independent citizens oversight committee required by Prop 39 (Measure X) must be expanded to seven members and the district is actively recruiting candidates.
What happens next: Facilities staff will return with updated schedules and bid results as packages move to advertisement and award; the district plans outreach to recruit five additional independent oversight committee members.
