Lancaster board approves five-year renewal for iLead Lancaster charter; several consent items pass

The Lancaster School Board voted unanimously on Nov. 18 to authorize a five-year renewal for iLead Lancaster’s TK–8 charter after staff concluded the school met the district’s educational and fiscal criteria.
Staff told the board that iLead Lancaster is categorized as a “middle performing” school under the California Department of Education and therefore eligible for a five-year renewal. Staff said the charter met all three renewal criteria — a sound educational program, capacity to implement that program and the required 15 petition elements — and reported no fiscal audit findings. “We do believe that they have met all eligibility requirements,” a district staff member said during the presentation.
Why it matters: A five-year renewal provides multi-year stability for the charter and requires annual compliance visits; staff said the district will continue to monitor implementation and report any concerns to the board.
Public comment and board action
Two people who identified themselves with iLead Lancaster spoke in support during public comment. Bridget Howitt introduced herself as “a proud board member of I lead Lancaster” and thanked the board for its vote of confidence. Another commenter, Hernandez, identified themself as “the president of IE Lead’s I support, which is our school CTA,” and conveyed appreciation for the board’s action.
Following the presentation and public comment, the board approved Resolution 2025–2026-24 to renew the charter. The motion was made by Mr. Giles and recorded as seconded (record shows “Muser” as second); the resolution passed 4–0.
