The Coventry School Committee approved a field-trip request for the boys volleyball team to participate in a tournament in New Jersey after staff confirmed required procedures for an out-of-zone athletic trip.
Committee members noted the tournament is outside the district’s 100-mile zone and requested a full roster of students and adults with contact information and confirmation that the nurse had reviewed student health needs. A staff representative said those steps would be completed and that when a trip is categorized as a field trip the district compiles student names and runs them past the nurse for any medical needs.
A motion to approve the New Jersey trip was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote. The committee recorded the vote as carried.
