Board members first approved second-reading revisions to district policies after a motion by Mr. Compton and a second from Miss McClanahan; the motion passed on a voice vote. The administration then presented the district's annual special-education plan and requested board approval. Tommy Blankenship moved to approve the plan, Miss McClanahan seconded, and the board approved the plan by voice vote.
Staff described an amendment to the All-In tutoring grant, noting it is the grant's third and final year and that the funds are restricted to tutoring and attendance activities. The administration said the amendment will continue tutoring in grades K'8 and expand attendance strategies, including home visits and closer coordination with transportation services. The board approved the amendment after brief discussion.
The board also approved a purchase order to repair the HVAC system serving the Twin Valley Elementary/Middle office complex. Administration submitted three quotes and a recommended purchase order; Mr. Ray Blankenship moved to approve the purchase, Mark Thompson seconded, and the motion passed with members answering in the affirmative during the roll call.
On a separate item, administration asked the board to certify participation in a state-funded employee bonus created by House Bill 30. According to staff, the district must certify acceptance by May 1 for employees to receive payouts in June; the state will provide the funds but the board must confirm any required local match before final payout amounts are set. Tommy Blankenship moved to certify acceptance contingent on meeting the state deadline and local-match requirements; Miss McClanahan seconded. The board voted in favor with recorded yes responses from members present.
The board set its next meeting for May 20 at 5:30 p.m. and then adjourned.
The administration said it will return with final numeric figures and local-match estimates for the bonus in May and will provide details about the state's formula in upcoming webinars; no further dates were set for implementation decisions in the transcript.
