Parks maintenance building framed; Mooresville targets mid‑May ribbon cutting

Mooresville's park superintendent told the Redevelopment Commission on April 2 that construction on the town park is progressing and the project is approaching completion.

The superintendent said the maintenance building has been fully framed, siding and roofing are in place, and electrical work has been roughed in. He reported that Disbursement No. 9 in the project packet is shown as $227,574.60 and summarized recent site photos showing grass regrowth and framing progress.

"We are nearing the end of this project," the superintendent said, noting upcoming work including the shade‑structure foundation, surfacing for the pickleball courts and net installations. He said fabrication of the shade structures is underway in Texas and that the town is aiming for a ribbon‑cutting ceremony in mid to late May, tentatively the week of May 16, subject to schedule changes.

The superintendent also described remaining tie‑ins for gutter systems and final electrical connections; restroom facilities and temporary construction trailers are in use but not yet open for public use.

During the meeting the commission later approved claims in the packet by voice vote; the transcript does not clearly identify each line item, so the park disbursement presented should be cross‑checked with the official meeting packet for exact accounting.

Why it matters: the park improvements create new recreation amenities (including pickleball courts) and the town is preparing a public opening. Staff expects final work in the coming weeks and will coordinate a specific ribbon‑cutting date closer to completion.
