Monroe County proclaims April as Fair Housing and Sexual Assault Awareness months, honors youth achievers

Marissa of Safe Monroe described recent service numbers, telling the board that between July 2024 and June 2025 more than 126 adult, teen and child survivors received counseling and advocacy totaling over 343 hours, and she invited the public to participate in the organization’s "Take Back the Night" rally the following day.
Separately, commissioners read certificates recognizing local Eagle Scouts and named winners of the 2026 Pocono Chamber of Commerce youth appreciation awards from area schools. The board approved the proclamations and certificates by voice vote and approved hotel‑tax allocations and event funding listed on the agenda.
