Deputy city manager and fire chief Drew Driscoll explained that the local cash match for the FDENP grant will be covered from the 301 project account and related bond/impact fee sources. The commission approved the resolution accepting the grant and authorizing matching funds and contract amendments on consent (vote recorded 7‑0).
For Fire Station No. 8, the commission accepted Wharton Smith Inc. for construction management and JL2 Architecture LLC for design. Commissioners asked staff to return with total project costs and a clearer funding plan; the resolution authorizing payments to the selected firms passed after discussion (vote recorded as 6‑1).
Public Works brought a resolution to submit and accept up to $1.3 million in Florida Inland Navigation District funds for Phase 3 of the City Island shoreline enhancement project; staff confirmed matching sources are primarily bond proceeds and impact fee reimbursements. The commission authorized submission and potential acceptance and budget amendments if the grant is awarded (motion carried).
Commissioners asked staff to provide detailed funding breakdowns, locations and procurement justifications for the items approved, and to return with follow‑up reports so the commission can track project costs and schedule.
