Belmar council approves slate of appointments; engineer pick and some appointments draw split roll-call votes

At its 2026 reorganization meeting the Borough of Belmar council moved through a series of professional and committee appointments. On resolution 202629, members clarified that Prestige Environmental had been appointed at the end of the prior year and the current item reappointed that firm as the borough's licensed site remediation professional. That reappointment recorded affirmative votes from the council members present.
During public comment a resident asked about annual resolutions reappointing the business administrator; the borough attorney explained that once the business administrator is appointed with advice and consent, the administrator serves for the mayor’s term under borough ordinance and separate yearly resolutions are not required.
