Roswell approves up to $470,000 for Cultural Arts Center lighting and rigging upgrades

Council approved a contract authorization to replace the main-stage dimmer and rigging controls at the Roswell Cultural Arts Center.
Mr. Malone presented the request and said many components of the center’s lighting and rigging infrastructure are original to the 1991 building and, in some cases, no longer supported by the original manufacturer. The project would replace the theatrical dimmer and rigging control package, move to LED stage lighting to reduce energy use and heat, and modernize rigging to meet current codes and improve safety and efficiency.
Staff said the requested contract authorization is approximately $427,998 and the total project allocation would not exceed $470,000. The work is expected to occur in late spring or early summer and staff said it will try to limit downtime for performances. The procurement used the TIPS interlocal purchasing cooperative to identify a manufacturer-certified vendor.
Motion to move the item was made by Council Member Bon and seconded by Council Member Zack; the council voted unanimously to approve the contract authorization.
Staff said the upgrades are intended to improve reliability and safety, reduce long-term maintenance and utility costs, and position the center to attract higher‑level touring productions.
