Superintendent director (speaking during the meeting) explained the transfers were partly driven by salary placement timing for vocational teachers who are awaiting teaching licenses: "...when we hire vocational teachers often times they come from the field not from education...they don't have a teaching license which affects how they get placed on their salary schedule until they get licensed," the director said, describing the logic for reallocating savings to cover health insurance shortfalls.
The committee also accepted two donations to support library media services — $797 from the Greater Lowell Parent Organization and $1,000 from the Greater Lowell Community Foundation — and approved two travel requests: two wrestlers to attend the National High School Nationals in Virginia Beach (March 26–29) at a total cost of $5,570 and a no‑cost trip for a media services staff member to an audio‑visual showcase in Nashua, New Hampshire.
