At the March 11 meeting, the Danville Town Redevelopment Commission heard an update on the southeast sanitary sewer extension: design is complete, permitting is under way, and the system capacity was clarified as 588 gallons per minute.
Barry (staff) corrected an earlier capacity approximation, specifying the extension's total capacity is "588 gallons per minute," and said the team has contacted two landowners to secure necessary easements. Staff emphasized they will delay construction until a project in the area commits so the town will not expend construction funds prematurely. "Once we have all the easements and permitting, we shouldn't have any reason not to get that installed," a staff member said.
Commissioners asked follow-up questions about a final property acquisition, easement negotiations and possible memorandum of understanding language to ease future coordination with large landowners. Utilities staff said moving the line and installation would be straightforward once easements and permits are in hand and that the run to the needed area is short.
No formal action was taken; the commission accepted the update and will revisit the timeline when a developer commits or after easements are secured.
