Library outlines land option for Smith Springs, Hadley Park site choices and Kneecat lease extension

Susan told the board that funds are available to secure land for a Smith Springs branch at a nine-acre parcel across from a new community center, but rezoning and final price remain to be resolved with General Services. For the Hadley Park branch, Jefferson Street is the preferred site because it keeps the branch in its existing community; a purchase would proceed through General Services and may involve TSU partnerships.
On the Kneecat studio, staff said the lease with Nashville State has been extended through June 2027, the last permitted extension under the original agreement, and that relocation options are being explored for after that date.
Next steps: staff will continue real-estate negotiations with general services and advance design and RFP work once sites and funding are finalized.
