Senate approves adjournment schedule; will stand sine die April 15, 2026

Reverend William Compton, rector of the Chapel of the Cross in Madison, Mississippi, gave a Good Friday invocation asking that lawmakers’ decisions reflect mercy and justice. "May their decisions and actions be a reflection of your goodness your love your forgiveness and your mercy," he said.
Senators introduced guests in the gallery. Senator Boyd welcomed Jake Munson and his mother, Renee, who was visiting from Minnesota. Senator Sparks introduced Krista and her children and thanked them for loaning the time of their father, Ethan Sampson.
The Senate also heard brief announcements from members, including Senator McCaughn’s thanks to committee staff for their work this session and Senator Blackwell noting that tomato bushes on members’ desks were courtesy of the Hospital Association.
The session’s final procedural action set the reconvening time: the Senate will reconvene at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, unless the Speaker of the House and the Lieutenant Governor determine it is unnecessary; in that event the journal will reflect adjournment sine die at 11:59 p.m. on April 15.
