Warrick County board approves package of easements, partnerships, donations and personnel actions

The Warrick County School Corp. Board of Trustees approved a slate of routine business and property actions at its March meeting, including easement agreements with Indiana American Water, a resolution to offer the Willow Pond property for disposal, a partnership for a classroom weather station, and multiple personnel and donation items.
The board voted to execute a new easement allowing Indiana American Water to install, operate and maintain a new water line on Castle High School property, then approved transferring ownership and operational responsibility for the water line to Indiana American Water and formally terminating the prior easement. Dr. Redmond presented the items on behalf of district staff. The motions passed on roll call with all members voting yes.
The board also approved Resolution 2026-4 to offer the Willow Pond property — described for the public as roughly a 20-acre vacant parcel on Willow Pond Road — for disposal after determining it is no longer necessary for school purposes. Dr. Redmond said the property had been in district ownership for decades but had not been used.
Other approved items included a memorandum of understanding with Ball State University to offer dual-credit Japanese courses at Castle High School for the 2026–27 academic year, and a work-based learning agreement that will document student employer experiences tied to new Indiana diploma seals. The board accepted several donations: a $40,000 sensory-playground donation for Castle Elementary and multiple smaller gifts earmarked for classroom resources and a backpack food program.
A sponsorship agreement with Liberty Federal Credit Union for $328,000 to install a new digital scoreboard at Castle High School’s football field also passed. Dr. Redmond described the contribution as “big dollars” that the district welcomed; the board approved the sponsorship by roll call.
Personnel items approved by motion included nonrenewal of temporary contracts (staff and teachers serving on temporary assignments), hiring approvals for certified and noncertified positions for 2026–27, leaves, transfers, accepted resignations with effective dates, and several retirements scheduled for June and May 2026.
All listed motions were adopted by roll call. The board’s next regular meeting was announced for April 13 at the administration building.
