Pennsbury board accepts director T.R. Cannon’s resignation; consent agenda approved

The Pennsbury Board of School Directors on March 19 accepted the resignation of school director T.R. Cannon and approved a slate of consent-agenda items, the board confirmed in roll-call votes.
The board first pulled two consent items for separate consideration: an instrument donation from the Cannon family and the formal acceptance of Cannon’s resignation. After discussing the pulls, the board approved the remaining consent agenda on a unanimous roll-call vote with nine members recorded as present.
When the two pulled items came up, the board voted to accept the Cannon family’s donation and to accept Cannon’s resignation. Director Cannon recused himself from that second vote and was recorded as abstaining; the motion carried with eight yes votes and one abstention.
During the meeting Mr. Waldorf read a detailed resolution that honored Cannon’s decade-plus service on the Pennsbury Board of School Directors, citing his work on the Board Finance, Policy and Facilities committees, participation in superintendent searches and leadership in facilities planning (including early work on the Pennsbury High School project). Cannon, who told the board he has increasing job responsibilities outside the district and less availability for board service, thanked colleagues and reflected on his time on the board.
No additional formal actions on Cannon’s seat were taken that night; board members expressed appreciation and said a replacement process will follow board policy and state requirements.
The meeting then proceeded to the business portion and other agenda items.
