The Wayne County Board of Supervisors on Aug. 6 approved routine business including the agenda, July 23 meeting minutes, August 2 payroll and the August 6 claim set. The board also approved reassignment of tax‑sale certificate 21‑0511 to the City of Promise City and abatement of delinquent and current taxes, penalties and interest for Parcel #08270A302005 once the city takes deed. The board approved reassignment of tax‑sale certificate 12‑0215 (Parcel #12140H493007) to Jerry Fetters.
Auditor Michelle Dooley reported the county canvass for the July 30 special election in the City of Allerton. Reported results included: Douglas Downs 87 votes for mayor; for one council vacancy Debby Downs 48, Rebecca Harper 13 and 1 write‑in; for other council seats totals include Jack Jellison 42, Michael Ewing 75, Galen Lunsford 78, with undervotes and write‑ins as recorded.
The board approved monthly reports: the Recorder's July deposits totaled $6,898.71 and Public Health Nursing's July deposits totaled $34,282.76. The board reviewed claims paid (full vendor list recorded in the minutes) with a grand total of $155,326.21 and adjourned at 10:27 a.m.; the next regular meeting is scheduled for Aug. 20, 2024 at 10:00 a.m.
