Wayne County supervisors unanimously certify Nov. 4 city and school election results; turnout 19.48%

The Wayne County Board of Supervisors unanimously certified the county's first-tier results for the Nov. 4 city and school elections at a meeting in Corydon on Nov. 12, 2025. Chair Chris Moore moved to accept and certify the canvass; Supervisor Lance Lange seconded and the motion carried without dissent.
The certification recorded city-by-city outcomes across the county. Among the reported results, Michael Ewing was listed as the winner for City of Allerton mayor (89 votes); Sara Wampler, Nicole Alley and Debby Downs were recorded in Allerton council contests. In Corydon, Nathan Bennett was recorded as mayor (139 votes) and council winners included Kyle Hampton (130) and Chase Clark (129). In Seymour, Caleb Housh was listed as mayor with 101 votes. School district results reported winners in Mormon Trail CSD, Seymour CSD and Wayne CSD; Wayne CSD totals included Tanner Kelley (372), Randy Downs (329) and Shane Langloss (141).
The board noted that the canvass lists an asterisk where supervisors resolved ties by lot drawing; the canvass summary attached to the record reflects at least one contest decided by that method. The county reported 731 ballots cast out of 3,752 registered voters, a turnout of 19.48 percent.
Auditor Michelle Dooley told the board the post-election audit was completed by the Absentee Board on Nov. 7, 2025. The supervisors discussed whether to schedule a work session to address how the New Venture Administrator position would be handled and decided not to schedule a work session at this time.
No members of the public spoke during the meeting. Supervisor Todd Wilson moved to adjourn at 10:59 a.m.; Supervisor Lance Lange seconded. The board set the second-tier county canvass for Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2025, which will include results from other counties in each jurisdiction and conclude the multi-county canvass process.
