The Wayne County Board of Supervisors voted Aug. 6 to award a pavement-crushing contract for Liberty Road (Old Highway 2) to Maxim Trucking & Materials of Pella for $27,450, up to 1,250 cubic yards with a ±5% variance. The award followed presentation of three sealed bids by Engineer Dillon Davenport.
Engineer Dillon Davenport told the board the county has completed patching and sub‑drainage north of Sewal on S40 and has started shouldering on S40, though the crew has experienced technical problems with rental equipment. For the Liberty Road crushing project, bids were: Coddington Backhoe & Trenching Inc., $39,000; Maxim Trucking & Materials, $27,450; and Cantera Aggregates LLC, $57,987. Supervisor Lance Lange moved to award the work to Maxim Trucking & Materials; Todd Wilson seconded the motion. Chris Moore abstained from the vote; the award was approved by the board.
