Westmont board approves consent agenda, grants and appointments including $58,000 natatorium grant and Metro Paramedic amendment

The board approved the consent agenda by roll call.
The board also approved a hotel/motel grant of $58,000 to the FMC Natatorium to support the TYR Pro Series event, which staff said brought more than 4,000 visitors to Westmont during the March event. Separately, two hotel/motel grants of $2,500 each were awarded to the Westmont Lions Club—one to support the Spring Fling event and a second to support a fireworks display tied to the club's 90th anniversary—bringing the Lions Club total to $5,000 for the season.
The board confirmed the mayor's appointment of attorney Charles Roodie as special counsel to handle appellate criminal work after village counsel said the village prosecutor does not handle appeals. Chief Riley presented a fourth amendment to the Metro Paramedic Services public‑private EMS staffing agreement, which the board approved; Chief Riley said the negotiated 5% increase will fund raises for the village's 12 contract paramedics and cover higher health‑insurance costs.
Other consent items included event ordinances (Pet Palooa and an annual USA Luge slider tryout event requiring a Cass Avenue street closure on Aug. 16) and proclamations honoring local school championship teams. All of the motions were approved by roll call with no objections recorded.
The board adjourned after no miscellaneous business or executive session requests.
