Delano Park: staff said an arborist, landscape architect and architect are finishing a tree survey and working on redevelopment concepts for the Delano area across from the middle school baseball field; a draft may be available by September depending on project schedule.
Oldtown digital tour and educational materials: the commission received state funding to develop an Oldtown digital tour; staff said design work submitted to a vendor exceeded the page budget but that additional grant money may be available to retain content. Separately, materials to update design review guidance for Old Decatur and Albany are in development, and the commission’s advisory committee will forward graphic drafts to a designer in April.
Cedar Lake churches and Albany resurvey: staff reported work on a National Register nomination for churches at Cedar Lake and said a resurvey of the Albany residential neighborhood is being considered; the Albany residential district has not been updated in roughly 10–15 years, and best practices suggest resurveying about every 15 years.
Events and logistics: the commission discussed preservation awards (to be presented May 14 during preservation month, with some portions not livestreamed), a combined training for HPC and ARB at Morgan County Archives (9 a.m.–noon), and confirmed the next HPC meeting for June 9.
Staff asked commissioners and residents to share ideas for preservation‑month programming and to contribute oral histories or archival materials for survey projects.
