Irmo recognizes Vivid Aesthetics as small business of the month; Dutch Fork student spotlighted

At the Jan. 27 Irmo council meeting the town honored Vivid Aesthetics as small business of the month, presented an Air Force flag to new resident Carla Melanasi, and heard a Dutch Fork High School showcase featuring STEM student Hunter Taylor.
Council presented Vivid Aesthetics with a small-business recognition and invited owners Kelly, Andrea and Jeff Sarat to address the council; the owners thanked the community for supporting their business.
Mayor Bill presented a U.S. Air Force flag to new Irmo resident Carla Melanasi and noted she is a retired Air Force veteran with more than two decades of service. "She's a retired US Air Force veteran who recently joined the Hermal community with 21.5 years of service," the mayor said when introducing the presentation.
Principal Reed Gunter introduced student Hunter Taylor as part of the school showcase. Gunter said Dutch Fork combines strong athletics and academics; Hunter described the school's STEM program and faculty support, noting he is active in many clubs and serves as group commander in ROTC. "Dutch Fork has really been an amazing place for me throughout my high school experience," Hunter said.
Staff also ran through community event announcements, including Riverbank Zoo free Fridays for Richland and Lexington County residents, a Jan. 30 campfire event at Saluda Shoals Park, an art-kit fundraiser for Prisma Health Children's Hospital (assembly Feb. 12), the Irmo Cherry Blossom Festival on Mar. 21, and other spring events. Several items included contact or registration details to be published on the town website and event flyers.
The presentations and community announcements preceded the council's formal business items and were followed by the meeting's votes and administrative actions.
