The Town of Irmo council voted on multiple annexation and zoning items during its March 17 meeting.
On second reading council approved Ordinance 26004 to annex roughly 16.6 acres (parcels TMS R0500‑08‑02 and R05100‑04‑10 at 7434 and 7440 Broad River Road) and to zone the property CG (General Commercial). A councilmember noted this annexation involves an existing business with an established workforce and traffic pattern and is not new construction; the council adopted the ordinance by roll call vote.
Council also heard first readings and approved motions to advance Ordinance 2608 (annexing 0.44 acres at 200 Ministry Drive requesting CG zoning) and Ordinance 2609 (annexing about 21.78 acres formerly associated with 'Waterwalk East' requesting Fringe Agriculture and RS single‑family zoning). For the larger Waterwalk East parcels, staff and council emphasized that there are currently no development plans and that sewer is not available at the site, which limits near‑term construction possibilities.
Votes on the first‑reading annexations were recorded; in at least one of the first‑reading items a single councilmember (Mr. Pinfield) voted no, while other members supported the measures.
Each annexation will follow required administrative steps for map updates and zoning implementation if the ordinances are finally adopted.
