Morgan said the decision felt like a final, post-hoc announcement delivered by letter to families and that, if months of planning occurred, parents expected to have been consulted earlier when input could have mattered. “Losing a beloved principal is not transparency. It is quite the opposite,” she said.
Multiple other speakers echoed that sentiment. A resident identified as John said he found the reassignment “reprehensible,” comparing late-term administrative changes to political patronage and urging the board not to “rearrange the deck chairs” at the expense of school communities.
Board members did not take formal action on the reassignment during the meeting. Superintendent Dr. Hines stated that personnel decisions are made by the superintendent and her team and that the district welcomes engagement and will follow up on specific concerns as needed. Dr. Hines also noted that transition planning is underway for the incoming superintendent, Dr. Smith, who will join the district April 2.
