A Keep San Beautiful representative asked the commission to promote the city’s first annual 5K Piñata Bash, a family-oriented run scheduled for May 30 at Sanan Park and the municipal sports complex. Commissioners encouraged attendance and several said they planned to participate.
The commission read and approved a proclamation designating March 2026 as Procurement Month to recognize the role of procurement in transparency, economic development and good governance; Miss Lori Maldonado, the city’s purchasing agent, was invited to comment on procurement’s importance and thanked directors and staff for support.
Planning and parks staff provided project updates: Liberty Park was reported as nearly complete and expected to receive final work in the coming days, the school-district water lines servicing an adjacent playground were expected to be fixed by the next day, and a north-side inclusive playground is about 90–95% installed with a final walk-through expected within roughly a week. Commissioners discussed coordinating a ribbon-cutting and monitoring remaining punch-list work.
The commission accepted these informational items and moved on to action items later in the agenda.
