The ERC recommended full seven‑year accreditation with no areas for improvement for Bethl College (initial programs) and Mid‑America Nazarene (initial and advanced). Washburn University was recommended for seven‑year accreditation but the review team identified areas for improvement related to clinical placements, recruitment data disaggregation and the quality assurance system; KSDE staff will track those issues via annual reporting. Several new and continuing programs were recommended for approval, including Wichita State's limited residency licenses under its teacher apprenticeship program (TAP) and Pittsburg State’s reading specialist renewal.
Board discussion focused on the accreditation process, evidence requirements and annual follow‑up for standards flagged as areas for improvement. Staff noted new programs are monitored more closely for two years to ensure they admit candidates and meet standards.
