ODOT installs $2.8 million lighting at I‑35/Highway 412 interchange, city staff says

“This is a $2.8 million project that ODOT is doing for us,” Michael said. He described initial work already underway (boring and pier pours), FAA/airport coordination for the 150‑foot poles, and an electrical build-out step expected to take roughly three weeks. Staff said the contractor forecast 180 days to complete the job but staff expect it could finish in about four months depending on weather and shipping of poles and mast arms.
Michael and other commissioners credited Representative Caldwell and Secretary Gats for assistance securing the project. Staff said city costs would be nominal beyond electricity and routine maintenance.
Next steps: Construction is underway; staff will monitor schedule and report progress to the council as the work proceeds.
