Dawsonville council approves up to $60,000 for dog-park upgrades

Public Works Director Trampus Sander presented a package of upgrades for the Dawsonville dog park including two water fountains (one per fenced side), concrete work at the park entrance and additional concrete paths, shade structures on both sides and drainage improvements. Director Sander asked the council to approve up to $60,000 to cover the work and a modest contingency.
Council member (recorded in transcript as) Ilk moved to approve the request for up to $60,000; the motion was seconded and the vote recorded in the transcript was 4-0 in favor.
Sander said the park would only need to be closed for concrete work for approximately two to three days while fence sections are temporarily removed and drains and concrete are installed.
Budget and schedule: Staff requested $56,001.65 and proposed rounding to $60,000 to allow for unexpected expenses; council approved the request and directed staff to coordinate schedule and public notification.
