Planning staff said the Round 24 award package totals about $240,135 of which Cornell University committed $80,000, the county’s IDA workforce housing policy fund contributed $35,000, and Tompkins County offered $5,135 from county funds. The committee approved both actions unanimously.
Committee members also approved a resolution recognizing April as National Fair Housing Month. The resolution designates the county administrator as the local fair‑housing officer and reaffirms compliance steps tied to community development block‑grant requirements; members discussed that the county’s last formal fair‑housing plan dates to 1992 and encouraged an updated plan in future budget cycles.
Separately, the committee moved a zero‑sum budget adjustment to shift prior unspent Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Healthy Homes dollars into the department’s CD account, clearing the way for INHS to expend roughly $293,820 in line‑itemed grant funds for home repairs. Planning staff said the change is an accounting move required to access the special CDBG expenditure account.
The committee took the votes by voice and recorded the outcomes as unanimous for these items. The county will transmit the necessary paperwork to implement the CHDF disbursement and the CDBG accounting adjustments; staff said noticed environmental history for the Compass site included a prior closed kerosene spill that triggered routine SEQR review but not further mitigation.
