The Evanston Township High School Board of Education approved multiple action items on March 9, 2026, including a resolution authorizing the issuance of general obligation bonds not to exceed $15 million to fund facility improvements including replacement of mechanical equipment in the athletic wing and HVAC modernization to provide air conditioning. Administrators told the board the Illinois State Board of Education approved the financing structure and that the district maintained its AAA rating on a recent Moody’s call.
Other actions taken by roll call included approval of international travel for 2026–27 (see separate article), acceptance of the Honeywell investment-grade audit included in the packet, adoption of Holocaust Remembrance Days (correcting the year to 2026 and adjusting phrasing for people with disabilities), authorization of a property-sale resolution, and approval of multiple personnel items (authorizing notices of non-renewal for some part-time and non-tenure staff and rehire approvals for second- through fourth-year teachers for 2026–27). The consent agenda — which included IHSA membership for 2026–27, campus landscaping bid, and HVAC modernization work in the athletic wing — passed by roll call.
Motions were moved, seconded and approved with roll-call votes recorded in the meeting. Where the packet or administrators did not provide specific monetary amounts for some items (for example, personnel settlements or some bid specifics), the board voted on the motions as presented and requested follow-up documentation as needed.
No closed-session outcomes were announced at the meeting’s close; the board adjourned at 9:20 p.m.
