Newton — On March 24 the Newton City Commission approved a second amendment to the city's management agreement with Keer Sports for Sand Creek Station golf course and separately approved building-inspection agreements with North Newton and Walton.
Staff described the Keer amendment as an extension that would move contract term dates to 2032 (with an out provision) or to 2037 if the out is not exercised. Daniela summarized key contract terms: the fixed management fee remains in place with a 3% annual increase and the incentive-management fee threshold will be raised from $1.5 million to $2.2 million to make incentive payments harder to achieve.
Commission members thanked Keer staff for their work; representatives from Keer and course superintendent James were present and offered brief remarks about course operations and customer service. A commissioner moved approval of the amendment and another seconded; the motion carried by voice vote with no opposition recorded.
The commission next approved interlocal agreements that authorize the city to provide building-inspection services to North Newton and Walton. Staff said the agreements have been used for years and that the current redlines reflect updated building-code provisions adopted by the city. A motion to approve the two agreements also passed by voice vote with no opposition recorded in the transcript.
Both items were procedural approvals; no further budget or ordinance actions were recorded in the meeting transcript excerpt.
