The James City County Planning Commission completed its annual organizational business March 16, electing Kira Almond as chair and Steve Rogers as vice chair for the 2026-27 term and approving a revised meeting calendar.
A motion to appoint Kira Almond as chair was moved and approved by a voice vote. Commissioners then nominated and elected Steve Rogers as vice chair. Commissioners thanked both for agreeing to serve.
The commission discussed the proposed 2026-27 calendar included in the meeting packet. Several members argued the policy committee had more placeholder meetings than necessary for CIP review and scheduling, and the commission voted to change the policy committee meeting time from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and to strike three policy-committee placeholder dates: February 18, February 25 and March 4. Staff explained placeholders can be useful if additional meetings prove necessary, but the commission elected to remove the three dates while retaining a single reserved meeting time.
