Commission schedules workshop on community health needs amid hospital sale

Commissioner Proctor led the motion to workshop the CHNA and broad health‑system issues and asked staff to invite major providers and stakeholders. Commissioners stressed accountability for entities receiving public funds and recommended the workshop focus on: the scope of services county partners provide (sliding‑scale clinics, community health centers), the county’s contractual investments (citations to local providers and approximate annual support), the implications of the pending TMH sale for indigent care and access, and potential tools such as medical‑debt relief pilots that other localities have used to free families from barriers to care.
The board voted unanimously to schedule a workshop and invite hospital leadership, local community health centers, and other relevant stakeholders to inform future board policy and potential county actions to improve access.
