Warren County supervisors approve routine business, pledge up to $8,500 for fuel-tank removal and back splash pad project

The Warren County Board of Supervisors met March 17, 2026, approved routine consent items and voted to authorize a financial contribution to remove fuel tanks at a former county secondary roads site.

In the meeting called to order at 4 p.m. in the boardroom, supervisors approved claims totaling $1,009,450.51 and the consent agenda, which included personnel step increases, department transfers and scheduling public hearings for land conveyance and rezoning requests. The board also appointed Deb Richardson as a community member to the Aging Resources Board of Directors.

The board approved a resolution to contribute one-quarter of the actual build cost, less amounts paid by applicable grants, up to $8,500 toward removal of fuel tanks at 701 (the former secondary roads facility). The resolution, as read at the meeting, specified that payment of the funds is voluntary and not a required obligation under any 28E agreement. The board voted in favor of the resolution by roll call.

Supervisors also approved a letter of support for the Indianola Children’s Memorial Splash Pad, led by Maximillian’s Muddy Puddles Foundation (a registered 501(c)(3)), and recorded a $1,000 county contribution in support of that project. The letter described the splash pad as a memorial and a long-term community amenity aimed at family recreation and economic benefits for Indianola and Warren County.

On personnel matters, the board agreed to post a motor vehicle specialist position in the Treasurer’s office to replace an employee who moved to another role. The board received and filed routine reports from general assistance, the Humane Society and the recorder.

The board set its next meeting for April 7, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. and adjourned. The meeting record shows all roll-call votes recorded as affirmative by Supervisors McIntyre, Erickson, Cook, Witt and Arnold for the items taken up during the session.
