Resident urges board to preserve 15th Street track; says petition shows local support

Boss said he circulated a petition and spoke with dozens of neighbors and community members; “I was able to get 12 signatures and zip codes in the about 45 minutes I was there,” he told the board, and said he had spoken with more than 50 community members who use the facility for running and team practice. He said community teams, recreational runners and other groups rely on the track and that the college’s campus is not a directly comparable public alternative because parts of it are gated.
Boss asked trustees about next steps and whether the district or the city could retain the property to keep community access. Board members thanked him for his comment; no board action was taken at the meeting on the property sale.
