Recreation staff seeks volunteers for spring events and previews new summer parent orientation

Recreation staff updated the board on upcoming events and volunteer needs. The department requested two volunteers for the Easter egg splash at the aquatic center and provided volunteer signups for the Gateway to the Globe event (April 28, 4–9 p.m.) and Fish and Fun (April 25, 8–11 a.m. at Gusty Waterworks). Staff said volunteer signups will be consolidated across city boards and volunteers will receive logistical emails with parking and site details.
Staff also described a private summer program parent orientation that will function as outreach to families already enrolled in summer programs. The presentation could include a marketing tent staffed by board volunteers and serve as an opportunity to introduce families to additional classes and services; staff estimated up to 300 children and roughly 150–175 families might attend, most of whom are Farmers Branch residents.
Board members expressed willingness to assist and asked staff to follow up immediately after the meeting to provide signups and the final schedule.
