Mount Holly manager reports progress on greenway labyrinth, sewer upgrades and bridge; council approves outdoor gallery art change

City Manager Mr. Blanton reported several infrastructure and community projects during the March 9 council meeting and the council approved an outdoor gallery art change.
Blanton said the labyrinth at Arts on the Greenway is progressing, noting funding from the Tourism Development Authority and private fundraising. He reported that sewer-line upgrades near Ida Rankin Mount Holly Middle School are expected to finish within about two weeks; crews have been working primarily at night. Blanton also said the River Street Park bridge project is awaiting a crane to place the bridge span and that staff will provide additional updates as the installation proceeds.
On events, Blanton reminded council and the public that the YMCA ribbon cutting is scheduled for March 19 at 4 p.m. and that Awakening Gallery will celebrate its eighth anniversary on March 20. He also recognized City Clerk Tara Douglas for passing a parliamentary procedure exam and joining the National Association of Parliamentarians.
Separately, the council approved staff- and PAC-recommended artwork to replace six works in the outdoor gallery, with proposed installation expected by mid-April if approved. The motion to approve the art was made by Mr. Reeves and seconded by Mr. Brooks and passed by voice vote.
